Risk Disclosure

You can lose money
Buying stocks and ETFs involves substantial risk, including the loss of your entire investment. Only commit money you can afford to lose. The capital you allocate to a Tide Picker strategy is not meant to be your whole portfolio, your emergency savings or money you will need in the near term.
We are not your adviser
Tide Picker LLC publishes quantitative research and rules-based signals. We are not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and nothing we publish is personalized investment, legal or tax advice. We know nothing about your finances, goals or tax situation. Every trade you place is your own decision and your own responsibility, and you should consider talking to a licensed professional before acting.
Backtested results are simulations
Historical results shown on this site were produced by running today's rules against past market data. They are simulations, not records of money actually traded. Simulated results do not reflect real fills, slippage, liquidity limits, taxes or the emotional difficulty of following a system through a losing stretch, and they benefit from hindsight in ways live trading never does. Past performance, simulated or real, does not guarantee future results.
Expect losing periods
This is a concentrated, trend-following approach. It holds a small number of positions at a time, it turns over regularly and it has historically experienced deep peak-to-trough declines. Losing weeks, losing months and losing years are a normal feature of the strategy, not a malfunction. Anyone who cannot sit through a large drawdown should not follow it.
Your results will differ
Your outcome depends on when you start, how much you allocate, which positions you take, the prices you actually get, your commissions and your taxes. Two members following the same signals on the same day can end up with materially different returns.
Data and delivery risk
Signals depend on market data from third parties and on the internet working. Data can be late, wrong or missing, and email can be delayed. We do not guarantee that a signal will always be available before the market opens or that it will be free of error.
